In the latest update to his story that the Magic had ended trade talks regarding Dwight Howard, Adrian Wojnarowski quotes a source saying that Howard told friends on Tuesday that he thought the trade sending him to New Jersey was a "done deal."
But 24 hours later, it was a dead deal, and Howard's impression was that "ownership killed it." Stefan Bondy tweets that Howard's theory "is in line with what I heard about Otis Smith's suppressed role."
According to Wojnarowski, Howard reiterated his trade demand on Tuesday, but "there's still a belief among Magic officials that a successful season could help them keep Howard for the long-term." Moreover, reports Ken Berger, the Magic owners don't want to see Howard in another team's uniform when they host the All-Star Game February 26.
Dave D'Alessandro blames the "AAU mentality," and believes Billy King should just build a winning team "systematically," which wouldn't be too hard given the Nets assets.

One can't help but wonder...
if ownership is trying to take out its frustrations with the failed CBA on Dwight by showing they are in control. Costing D-12 an extra year by waiting until after January 1 to trade him would be in keeping with this vindictive interpretation.

Posted this in the other thread ... I'm curious to hear opinions:
If the Nets were to sign Humphries, Kirilenko and Extra E (or another depth player) to one-year deals, do you think they’d make the playoffs?
I do — probably a seven or eight seed.
Dopeness - December 14, 2011
YES!
Andy. - December 14, 2011
Yes 7th or 8th
dwill8brooklynbound - December 14, 2011
doubt they would take a 1 year deal
RandyOreens - December 14, 2011
especially hump who just came off his best season, say he does bad this season
RandyOreens - December 14, 2011
disagree
give Hump 1 yr at 10mil to clean up the boards like last year. If he does it again, he’ll get a good contract in 2012 when more teams will have cap room, while collecting a larger salary in 1 yr from the Nets than he would make in 3 from any other team.
Murse Mike - December 14, 2011
My gut says probably not.
But it would be essentially last year’s team with Kirilenko and Shawne added and presumably Graham and Outlaw removed…so maybe, considering a full year with Deron.
I’ll say no, but we would be a bubble playoff team, i.e. in the hunt.
And for the record, I still think we’re going to get Dwight, either in Dec., March or July. I don’t think today was a bad today.
BigTom - December 14, 2011
I forgot that Marshon replaces Sasha
I’ll play it conservative and call that a draw. I’m not an AK fan, but of course he’s an upgrade from Outlaw, as is Shawne with regard to Graham. Sheldon Williams is a cipher imo.
BigTom - December 14, 2011
Fair enough.
I’d actually go even further — and some have taken me to task for this — and say that today was actually a good day.
Only positive things can come from today’s results, in my opinion.
(I think we underestimate how good the combo of Williams and Lopez will be, by the way. And you know that I’m big on AK. Don’t expect the Nets to be able to pry him away with a one-year deal. I’m hopeful, though.)
Dopeness - December 14, 2011
today we didn't even have to sign an AK
I gotta say it was a good day
sheepareevil - December 14, 2011

Deron and Brook will easily get us the 7th or 8th
djeterfan - December 14, 2011 via mobile
yes
Claud - December 14, 2011
Yes
With the team we had around Deron last season, we would have made the playoffs. Hump, Deron, Morrow, and Lopez already have chemistry and adding Brooks and AK to that will help us bump Atlanta or Philly out, and by the deadline, we’ll be adding Dwight anyway
Murse Mike - December 14, 2011
no
basically the same team as the end of last year except we are adding AK47 (who is hurt right now). Maybe we compete for the 8 seed but I see us coming up short.

If you're the nets you don't leave open the chance for
The lakers to swoop in and take Howard, you gotta close this by Friday…. Billy King will considering it made it to owners level so a fourth team will be added….
Come on now, I was right about Nono wasn’t I? Haha
boogeewon - December 14, 2011 via mobile
Thank you!
Everyone wants Dwight to take charge and demand a Nets trade but he could say that a million times over and Orlando still doesn’t have to trade him here. They WILL trade him before the deadline and that is pretty much a given. They wanted The Lakers to panic and offer Gasol and Bynum today but they didn’t. Now that CP3 is off the market you think The Lakers aren’t considering giving up both those guys? They are probably discussing it as we speak. I pray that Bynum gets injured before any moves are made to end The Lakers chances of trading for D12. That’s really the only way I think we would find ourselves in the drivers seat…because then our package would then be their best option and they would know it. Then we can start lessening what we offer them and still pull off the trade.
NuttinBut - December 14, 2011
Bynum will get some kind of injury
shortened season, more minutes without Odom, but more importantly, Brook will have a big year and his stock will rise

From the looks of that deal, it’s gonna cost you Brook Lopez, Damion James, Jordan Farmar, MarShon Brooks, rights to Bojan Bogdanovic, 2 2012 picks, a 2014 pick and a couple 2nd rounders to get it done…
Maybe I’m being a little extreme but still…

Paul to Clips appears to be bad news for Nets
Perhaps it’s the Nets fan in me, but I have a hard time believing something as awesome as landing D12 can happen to the Nets. The Lakers have had a dominant big ever since I began watching the NBA from Wilt to Kareem to Shaq. Even the guys they had in between the league’s best were good – Elmore Smith, Divac and Bynum. I have a sinking feeling that D12 lands in LA, and the Nets have to face the prospect of losing Williams.
Seriously hope I’m wrong, but I’m bracing for this since good things rarely happen for the Nets.
SlappyWilson - December 14, 2011
Kobe will damend to keep Pau and Bynum and get more players
He knows better with Kobe and D12 and bunch of scrubs they are second round at best with no depth. But i hear what you saying that Otis wont trade him here only thing we can do is wait and see …. i trust Billy to pull this one out.
Aidar Berlinbayev - December 14, 2011
What LA did with Odom really upset Kobe and Fisher
I don’t see the Lakers giving up both Bynum and Gasol for Dwight. Simply because they will irritate Kobe.
ZR - December 14, 2011
I don't see how Dwight is going to replace both of them
I’m sorry, but if LA gives up both Bynum and Gasol, I fail to see how it makes them any better (except when Bynum isn’t playing)

(Hump + AK + Shawne) should be cheaper than what Nene would cost.
And they should contribute to more wins than just having Nene. Look at how many wins can be attributed to Hump alone last season. How many wins did Shawne give the Knicks last season?
By that reasoning, if BK was prepared to give Nene a 4 year contract, then he should be prepared to give (HUMP +AK+Shawne) multiyear contracts. The longer the contract, the less in year 1. They could still be used to trade for Howard after Feb 15.

Look at Melodrama situation, the Nuggets had offers since the beginning of the season, and they delayed, delayed, delayed to the limit to push for more assets, and they made it, the final offer of the Knicks was way better than the first offers the Nets and Knicks made to get Melo. They will do the same.

Guys, it's all in Dwight's hands
He has to man up and let Magic know, he wants Nets only and lets Lakers know, he’s not signing extension with them.
There is nothing else to it.
Belarus4life - December 14, 2011
If he told his teammates he thought a deal was done,
he doesn’t care about the Lakers.
lupojohn3 - December 14, 2011
That may not phase LA
Since it’s well known that they were on his list they could probably call his bluff and trade for him anyway in hopes that playing deep into the playoffs with Kobe would win him over….and in all honesty I think it would. It would be great to see him screw LA and leave them with nothing at the seasons end haha

JJ25 - December 14, 2011
It's in Dwight's court now....NOT ownership.....
All he has to do is go into their office, tell them he’s upset about whats going on and if he’s not traded to NJN ONLY by friday while telling them it’s no longer a 3-team race (because he knows Orlando’s ownership is hoping for a batter trade from somebody else which is slowing this process down) he would stay there for the year and walk in the offseason also he would NOT sign an extension anywhere else if they try to trade him at the deadline. Even if we had to wait until next year, which is really the goal of Proky and BK to have a championship caliber team going into Brooklyn, we would actually be in better shape with ALL our assets and Lopez. Trust me, the money he would lose in his bird rights he could definitely make back through “GLOBAL ADVERTISING”. I’m sure Proky can make something up in Russia (where DH and AK were in the summer together) where Dwight could make up some money. Dwight, we need you to step up and take charge!!!!

O Dog - December 14, 2011
Sometimes you lose you're superstar
Look we lost Kidd…and trust me Kidd meant more to the Nets than Dwight will ever mean to the Lakers..but Kidd stayed 7 years and moved on. He tried his best and no Nets fan hates him for that. The Magic have to realize that sometimes you’re superstar tries and can’t do it. And then you wait for the next one to come…yes we traded Kidd when he was out of his prime but it defeats the purpose…sometimes you’re player needs to be elsewhere and Dwight needs to leave Orlando and join the NETS
davidnets - December 14, 2011

Tim823 - December 14, 2011

BKNfastbreak - December 14, 2011
this<<<as long as they have trade value
BEBESTER - December 14, 2011
I want him
Deron played with him – Nets wouldn’t sign him if Deron didn’t think he was good. Besides, he is also Dwight’s friend. Next up, Gilbert Arenas!
nazem275 - December 14, 2011
wasn't there something out there which said deron didnt like playing with him?
BEBESTER - December 14, 2011
For one year no issues from my end
We need a competitve roster based on signing some FA’s to 1 year deals leaving flexibility for DH
DH also seemed to develop a relationship with AK47 while in Russia, so that cant hurt either
O Dog - December 14, 2011
Yeah but we might have to get back into the trade market with Orlando before deadline. I dont want to load up and hope he chooses us as a FA.
Tim823 - December 14, 2011
One year deals become expiring
And that can help us with flexibility as long as we dont severely overpay them.
O Dog - December 14, 2011
Well thats great for free agency, but what if Dwight forces Orlandos hand 1 week from now and we stupidly signed this old fart for a 1 year for too much and we dont have enough room to please Orlando.
Would rather just go young and cheap until we have Dwight for sure.
Tim823 - December 14, 2011
We gotta be at 85% of cap minimally
So we are going to have to sign some players to fill out the roster. Hump and AK47 would start at the 3 and 4 for us tomorrow.
Best case scenario, Magic see we are moving on, DH is pissed and they reopen talks before we sign these guys.
Minimally we better put a competive product on the floor for Dwill. Hes a competitor and I dont think he wants to be playing for a lottery team
O Dog - December 14, 2011
I just dont get all the AK47 love. This isnt 2005.
Tim823 - December 14, 2011
I hear you
But who else could play the 3 for us?
Thats the problem. You cant start the year with Travis Outlaw again.
O Dog - December 14, 2011
I dont even like Shawne Williams, but at least he is young and can shoot. My #1 pref is Wilson Chandler, which wont happen.
I just dont see the point of an over the hill, injured AK.
Tim823 - December 14, 2011
Chandler is my preference also
but hes stuck in China.
AK47 is the best available SF out there right now. 1 year is an expiring deal- easy to get rid of
O Dog - December 14, 2011
I would rather start James over AK. Easy.

-This is the team going into Brooklyn… How will they attract talent ?

I told you guys that tweeting BK gets results.
I had been telling BK how embarrassing it would be to let the Knicks get Shawne Williams (lol).
jerry25 - December 14, 2011
I think Shawne's a good pickup. Dwight could kick out to him and Morrow and Brooks.
Jbller3 - December 14, 2011
Until the nets sign kirilenko or hump i will continue to be optimistic about getting dwight now
joeyb896 - December 14, 2011
I also told BK that (AK+Hump+Shawne) would cost less than Nene and would produce more wins.
By that logic, it is worth it to sign them more multi-year deals, since Nets were willing to sign Nene to a 4 year deal.
Let us see if AK and Hump are Nets buy tomorrow (and Outlaw is gone).
jerry25 - December 14, 2011
If they are willing to take one year deals..
That makes the most sense.

Some website has Brooklyn Nets DH12 Superman t-shirts for sale: http://beertag.spreadshirt.com/-A8649696
OTRWaldo - December 14, 2011
If L.A. does trade for Dwight, he’d still become a free agent to get the best possible contract (same with Brooklyn). And during that free agency, the Nets would be sure to show him why a younger team with all of its pieces intact would be preferable to an L.A. team with an older Kobe and no Pau/Bynum. So even at that point, don’t lose all hope.
OTRWaldo - December 14, 2011
No chance
The Lakers would be able to offer a better contract if they traded for him. We have to assume if LA trades for him then our opportunity to get him is lost.

From page 6 of 8 of the CBA proposal that was ratified.
So if the years remaining on Chandler’s contract are far enough, you could reduce his cap hit by half (but you do have to waive him).

This is all Dwight has to say:
I will not sign with anybody else than Nets and if you don’t trade me before January 1st, I’ll go public and say that I will not sign with anybody but Nets. By doing that Magic has no option but to trade DH12 now. If they don’t and wait for trade deadline, Nets do not need to do anything and magic is not going to get anything of value.
Magic also will not get cap relief if they wait till trade deadline. DH12 has to be extremely pissed if Magic do not trade him by January 1st because he is going to lose boatload of money if he is traded by trade deadline or sign as a free agent in2012. Unless he wants to stay with Magic, trade before 1st is in DH12’s best interest.

Did you read any of the comments made by Magic fans?
Haha they think trading him to us now has absolutely no advantages so waiting till the deadline makes perfect sense because our deal might look better. They are missing one of the most important aspects of this trade though. Our cap situation isn’t going to be looking better if they wait. Unless they’d prefer to be stuck in cap hell for a few more years at least
NuttinBut - December 14, 2011
Damn....did you see the comment by a fan called Jtyler998?

we cant trade players signed to 1-year deals so how exactly would we be able to get Dwight in a midseason trade if we cant push these expiring contracts on them?
vijay311 - December 14, 2011
we can't trade players with 1 year deals? why? new cba rules?
Heavinsent - December 14, 2011
ppl kept bringing up some rule about it. I'm not sure the details. Hopefully some with more knowledge can ellaborate.
vijay311 - December 14, 2011
the only thing I know is that we can't trade players during 60 days after we sign them
Heavinsent - December 14, 2011
false
we just cant trade them for 60 days after they sign… still plenty of time to trade them b4 the deadline
bdiggle25 - December 14, 2011
o is that the only rule. I couldve swore there was something about 1 yr deals.
OH well.
vijay311 - December 14, 2011
you only cant sign guys on 1 year deals after their first 4 year rookie deal is up when they are restricted free agents….. like david lees final year on the knicks or jeff green on boston this year…. and you CAN trade them, but you need their consent because they would lose their bird rights in the deal….doesnt effect hump or ak47 or any other vet

Beasley TIme?
Okay- so now that we’re officially unrelenting in being aggresive in our approach for improving our roster. Its time to make a somewhat risky gamble one that could payoff incredibly for us. Lets find a way to acquire Mike Beasley. Right now- the Twolves are going with D-williams and Beasley is expendable. Hes the perfect solution at the 3….hes only 22 and he averaged 19.5 points a game and 36 % from 3 point land at 6’10…he could be like a Carmelo clone for us with D-will running the pick n roll with him and Lopez would be a deadly combo. We can sign Hump..and still fenaigle a multi team trade for D12..as the ultimate goal. If not our lineup COULD look like this
Dwill
Morrow/Brooks
Beasley/Ak?/Djames
Hump/Jwill/Djames
Lopez/Petro
lezosamis - December 14, 2011
who are we giving up to get him?
sheepareevil - December 14, 2011
1st round picks…we almost had him a while back for CDR and a second rounder. I think 1st rounder plus farmar, outlol…would get the job done. Kahn would bite- but we could also use him in a D12 trade. Ideally would be great to find a way to have a core of dwill morrow beasley dwight- makes us more than a 2 man team.
lezosamis - December 14, 2011
lol who would want to take outlaw?!
sheepareevil - December 14, 2011
More like Beasley time for the Magic
instead of the Wallace deal, give the Magic Brook, Beasley, 2 firsts.

If his knees aren’t healthy and in a shortened 66 season, i think that’s a positive for us. I would never wish any harm on any player in the nba (except maybe alonzo mourning) but highly likely he’ll miss a lot of games. Lopez needs to step it up to 25 and 10 this year (i know this is high) stay healthy and use the fact that he’s stable and young to his advantage. This would make our trade chips much more attractive come trade deadline.

Read what it says. How can he stay there for all those months? He’s miserable. Why do you think Fegan is pushing this? He’ll be such annoying moiso, ownership may just want to trade Dwight to get Fegan off of Otis’ moiso.
lupojohn3 - December 15, 2011
The cap relief scenario only works up until Midnight Friday. After that, the parameters of the deal change completely. That is why I believe what I said previously.
JimmyLips - December 15, 2011
Wow
I guess a lot of people want to rent Dwight.
Anthony Perez - December 14, 2011
They just found that out about Bynum? Who is runnin the show over there? Otis Smith?
bkfire - December 14, 2011
Here is the tweet regarding Shawne Williams (Billy King must have been working on this after his dinner with the Knicks)
jerry25 - December 14, 2011
Yeah but Bill retracted it it on the radio
Atronic - December 14, 2011
Knicks can't offer more that mini-MLE of 2.5 million for 2 years.
Nets could offer 2.8 million for 2 years.
It is up to Billy to finish the deal if he wants to.
Then move onto AK47 and Hump by tomorrow.
jerry25 - December 14, 2011
hope he is not our starter
BrettGardnerLF - December 14, 2011
Why do we want Williams again? He is worse then Outlaw!

Tim823 - December 14, 2011
Not much better, but way more consistent...
Better 3pt shooter, better defender and knows his limitations, besides he’s not going to make 7M.
Heavinsent - December 14, 2011
For Outlaw to be more offensively capable then someone else, thats saying something.
He hits 3’s alright. Thats all he does. We have one of those guys in Morrow who does it much better.
Tim823 - December 14, 2011
Why have you ignored his defense?
Morrow can hit the 3, but can’t even defend SG. Shawne is a big body, who do you want to defend SF and some PF?
Heavinsent - December 14, 2011
He should come here
HE OWES THE NETS
Murse Mike - December 14, 2011
One of Orlando's beat writers
was just on ESPN Radio. What he basically said was he does not believe that Dwight is off the trade market. Dwight has made it clear that he wants out, and he’s not convinced that Dwight will be with Orlando by the time the season starts.
HOWEVER, he called the Nets offer of Brook and some first round picks “a joke,” and that the Magic should hold out for the Lakers to offer Bynum and Gasol.
Not going to lie, I somewhat agree. In order for us to get Dwight, we’re going to have to bring in a 3rd team and somehow get a guy like Josh Smith or Monta Ellis or Kevin Martin to Orlando. As Claud posted above, apparently the ridiculous trade rumor of 4 first round picks going to portland for Wallace was made up (which is a relief), but Billy has got to get creative now if he wants Dwight by the time the season starts.
Now is the time to pounce!
deron2dwight - December 14, 2011
where have u been man
gerald wallace was heading to orl in the latest deal
mbspam17 - December 14, 2011
where have I been?
I’ve been following this site nonstop for the last week instead of studying for my finals. If you read what Claud posted above, Dwight’s agent, Fegan, made up the ridiculous trade rumor involving Wallace. Nor did I ever say that Wallace was for us. I said that Billy has to bring in a 3rd team, and since the Wallace rumor was not true, he has to get creative.
deron2dwight - December 14, 2011
Nonsense
eLonepb - December 14, 2011

just MAYBE PING IS A MORON
danxcr - December 15, 2011

Andrew Flynn - December 14, 2011

can be “had” long day my mistake
Andrew Flynn - December 14, 2011
Bynum and Gasol will win you what?
RandyOreens - December 14, 2011
a slice of a slice of a slice of a slice of a slice.....which becomes almost nothing
netsball - December 14, 2011
Old PF and guy with bad knees
vs. guy who scored 20 PPG against double and triple team D. Obviously knock on Brook is his rebounding.
NDTony - December 14, 2011
I don't think they will win you anything.
I was just writing what the Orlando beat writer said. It still baffles me that these so called “experts” truly believe that Bynum is better than Lopez. I have yet to see anything over the last 3 years to prove Bynum a better big man than Brook.
deron2dwight - December 14, 2011
Why does EVERYONE who talks about the Nets trade
act like the cap relief doesnt exist. That is as valuable as a player or players worth the salary relief….That is a BIG deal in the mix and this sportscaster ignores it? Weak!
NetProfit - December 14, 2011
Because we are the Nets
and no one ever wants to admit that we actually have a chance to become a good team. It pains the experts to give us any compliments.
It’s as if their memory from just a few years ago, when we made the playoffs year after year with Kidd, has vanished, and their only thoughts are of our 12-70 season. It’s ridiculous
deron2dwight - December 14, 2011
Because they FAIL

Benl1 - December 14, 2011
Agree 100% bro
Don’t think BK isn’t working on this. Remember, he is the king of multi-team trades.
lupojohn3 - December 14, 2011
So at the end of the day...
We’re right back where we were yesterday?
Ccrules2791 - December 14, 2011
Yep Cc
Just waiting to see if BK can make an improved offer to get ownership to budge. Combine that with Fegan putting the screws to the Orlando FO, and we could see a deal in a day or two. If Outlaw is amnestied, you know.
lupojohn3 - December 15, 2011
I am starting to get very annoyed
at our offer being called trash. Lopez is younger, healthier, and better than Bynum.
Also, why would Dwight want to play on a team that just lost their second, third, and fourth best players, with their best player being an old Kobe?
Net3core - December 14, 2011
look what NO just got
nets offer is a joke
William_H_HOLLA - December 14, 2011
Wallace and Lopez?
JJ25 - December 14, 2011
hmmmm.
Lopez + Wallace > Bynum + Gasol, no?
Net3core - December 14, 2011
Bynum will go down.. better if you just put Gasol
Lopez + Wallace >>>> …… + Gasol
YES??

Net3core - December 14, 2011

then so is the Lakers offer.
Net3core - December 14, 2011

RandyOreens - December 14, 2011
That misses the point
You can’t expect to get equal value in these trades. You can get the best that the teams that you are willing to sing with can offer.
BennyandtheNets - December 14, 2011
Lopez is much more valuable that Gordon
Murse Mike - December 15, 2011
We are one of the teams that have become the laughingstock of the NBA. Nobody really thinks that highly of us
….be it other teams, other fans, or even the media. It’s always been that way. Nobody gives us credit. The only way to combat that is to start winning games and have the eff ’em all point of view.
Screw everybody else. Getting Dwight means more than mere marketing and wins….it forces others to recognize us even when they don’t want to. Nobody cares for Brook, and they never will until he goes to a big market team.
BigBlueIntervention - December 14, 2011
If Brook was on the Lakers,
and we had Bynum, everybody would be saying Brook is better.
Net3core - December 14, 2011
yup
BigBlueIntervention - December 14, 2011
Lets get this done already!!!!
This is beyond annoying…I must have logged into Netsdaily 10000 times in the past 2 weeks. Please just make the trade happen so I can live my life!

Tomorrow is another day
All you guys in College….Go study and forget this nonesense.
Would the NBA players give up their lives for you? HIT THE BOOKS! :)
NetProfit - December 14, 2011
Unfortunately,
that is easier said than done. I have my last final on Friday, and yet I can’t go more than 15 minutes without checking Netsdaily. The thought of Dwight coming to the Nets has taken priority over studying for my Spanish final.
Yo quiero Dwight en Brooklyn

njnets05 - December 14, 2011
they do
but there is no way every big media writer, including berger and woj jumped onto a made up trade.
JimmyLips - December 14, 2011
I doubt he's making it ALL up
Guy just can’t publish something like that out of thin air. Could be sued by Fegan, Otis or ownership if he did.
lupojohn3 - December 15, 2011
Yeah if he made it all up that would create some serious issues
When Wallace and the rest of the players involved in the deal saw on ESPN that they may be on the move they arent going to take that lightly. Any one of these teams couldve had a Lamar Odom situation on their hands. What a nightmare that’d be for them
NuttinBut - December 15, 2011
And that's another reason I think it happens
It’ll be just like Lamar, only it’ll be speculation and/or rumors.
lupojohn3 - December 15, 2011
What sucks is....
Not one mention of Brooks development training with Hakeem….Not one mention of how Marshon looks…In a “normal” world, we’d be getting excited about the possibilities of what we have….Now, we just lust for what we dont…
In the superteam world of the NBA, I guess we can’t be blamed…It just sucks that we have spent nearly 2 years on this garbage though.
NetProfit - December 14, 2011
I'm excited to see Lopez grow...
Interesting to read Dave D’s article… makes me want to keep Brook around and get rid of the rest.
Ccrules2791 - December 14, 2011
I have always thought Brook has the ability to be a top player
but unless he gets a nasty streak, its not going to happen…Mabye a guy like Kobe can bring it out in him…..
Hmmmmmmmm….new 3 team trade idea???? LOLOLOL
NetProfit - December 14, 2011
I had always thought Lopez was overrated
Now I think he’s extremely underrated!
BennyandtheNets - December 14, 2011
Something VERY critical in the Bynum vs Lopez discussions:
In one year Lopez becomes a restricted free agent & Bynum becomes an UNRESTRICTED free agent.
Do you think Bynum will stay in Orlando? Would he rather go to a bigger market or contender?
Lopez being a restricted free agent + having Disney around will literally stay as long as he possibly can in ORLANDO
So is 32 year old Gasol + weak knees aka will leave Bynum better than Lopez+ a solid player like wallace + offloading bad contracts + picks?
Is Gasol REALLY going to make the Magic a contender? REALLY? LIKE HE DID IN MEMPHIS BEFORE KOBE? haha
I still say DH12 comes to us, I don’t know when but I hope soon.
my .02
Claud - December 14, 2011

Lopez
compare to what Deron had in Utah all these years?
they seemed to make the playoffs every year.
Net3core - December 14, 2011
yeah, but they had Boozer, Okur and Ak on their prime.
Heavinsent - December 14, 2011
Hump wil give us 15 and 10-12, AK is still more than serviceable if he can stay healthy,
Lopez will get between 20-23 pts and 8-9, and SWill can shoot and play between the 3 and 4, like AK and James. It gives us players that can play multiple postions, giving us different lineup combos.

claiming that fegan strong armed the magic?
Prash Ramani - December 14, 2011
i have that question too
netsyankees4life - December 14, 2011
NI, in the last CBA, a player on a one year deal had the right to veto trades.
Do you know if that is still in the new CBA, will the Nets try to sign players who would not veto them?
Maxyboy - December 14, 2011
the only 1 year deals that have the right to veto are qualifying offers….. think david lees last year on the knicks or jeff greens deal wtih boston now, even tho those were for more then the QO. They have veto rights because theyd lose their bird rights if traded. AK wouldnt have any bird rights, but hump prob would
biglescobar - December 15, 2011

Maxyboy - December 15, 2011

d12 man. have faith we came so far.
vincent manzull - December 14, 2011
If Nets sign Shawne soon, it will mean two other very important things:
1. By knowing the terms of the contract, we would know BK’s strategy (re: Multiyear contracts).
2. Outlaw would already be expendable (Amnesty).
jerry25 - December 14, 2011
Outlaw is gone

really???
Ccrules2791 - December 14, 2011
With DJames being the only other Nets forward under contract (besides JWill), Shawne would seal Outlaw's departure.
And if you and others are so confident that BK is going to wait until July 1 to get Howard as a FA, then Outlaw could still be Amnestied at that time.

Hopefully i’ll wake up to find out this was all a dream and we still are getting Dwight.

i hope that every night
here’s hoping that it’s true this time
ohhcomely - December 14, 2011
My source says
*Shawne close to signing with Nets
*Outlaw is gone
JJ25 - December 14, 2011
Is your source NI?
If not, that’s all we’re doing?
Ccrules2791 - December 14, 2011
evidently
NI
JJ25 - December 15, 2011
so how is this ?
Deron Farmar
Morrow Brooks
AK47 Shawne Williams
Hump James
Lopez Williams
RandyOreens - December 15, 2011
Missing another Williams--
Sheldon lol
Ccrules2791 - December 15, 2011
thats who I was talking about, I doubt Jordan Williams plays
RandyOreens - December 15, 2011
Take out AK he is comanding too much money.
JJ25 - December 15, 2011
You left off Gaines, Petro and Jordan Williams.
jerry25 - December 15, 2011
Playoff team.
Maxyboy - December 15, 2011
If few injuries and some players exceed expectations.
We were saying the same thing after signing Troy Murphy last season.
jerry25 - December 15, 2011
We didn't have Deron Williams last year.
Maxyboy - December 15, 2011
My feeling is that the best hope to get Howard is for BLopez to well exceed ORL's expectations of him.
But then Nets won’t be able to absorb salary.
jerry25 - December 15, 2011
expiring deals kind of do the same
Benl1 - December 15, 2011
Hump is a desirable contract. Not an expiring.
jerry25 - December 15, 2011
here is a player who's putting his best foot forward to not create enemies
u gotta love the wide eyed fake smile
netsball - December 15, 2011
But his stomach/intestines must be churning out smelly one's during this stressful time.
Vince Carter had to hold his nose on the bus.
jerry25 - December 15, 2011
i am still hopeful
for a dwight trade pre – season
danxcr - December 15, 2011
Should be interesting to see what tomorrow holds...
Signings? More epic failure? Billy King actually speaking?
Ccrules2791 - December 15, 2011
What is Orlando's Logic?
Lakers already said they will not give up Bynum and Pau. How could waiting till March help them at all? All they are doing is delaying their rebuilding/recouping/mourning time. He’s a goner anyway. The sooner the better no?
Trav235 - December 15, 2011
thats the way i look at it
Its ridiulous how delusional they are…they get a GREAT rebuilding package with what we are offering
netsyankees4life - December 15, 2011
Now that CP3 is a Clipper
I think Lakers will think twice on that stance. The fact that Kobe is upset with them (live in LA, so all over the media here) may also put pressure on Lakers. Point blank, if Lakers don’t get Dwight and he ends up in Jersey, guess who the next superstar to demand a trade is going to be?
domininaldo1981 - December 15, 2011
i thought he doesnt want howard
he wants to keep gasol and bynum
Prash Ramani - December 15, 2011
Plus, the latest article says orlando is now first
realizing the Bynum is damaged goods. Dwight would rather be in BK…why would he want to play under Kareem and Shaq’s shadow? He has a chance to bring the Nets their first NBA ring and be the first BK Net legend….his name will be immortalized
Trav235 - December 15, 2011
Why are we being called bums with this roster?
We’re a betta team than last year. Lopez is healthy, Swag is Swag, AK47 is loaded up, Hump wants to take his anger out, Ammo aim is still on point, added 2 big defensive guys our point guards in shape so that deepens the bench and oh yeah WE HAVE DERON WILLIAMS. This team will hold the fort till Superman soars down in Newark. RELAX
Freezy82 - December 15, 2011
We dont have HUmp or AK47 on our team and Brooks hasnt played an NBA game yet
RandyOreens - December 15, 2011
We don't have Hump or AK47 signed yet haha...
I’d feel a litttle different then
Ccrules2791 - December 15, 2011
We're saving cap guys
we don’t need AK or Humph, just keep saving cap
Shameer1016 - December 15, 2011
We need to field a team lol...
If Cap Space was so valuable… then we’d have Dwight
Ccrules2791 - December 15, 2011
I was being sarcastic lol
WTF are we saving cap for if we are trading for Howard? We saved cap before last season and look what we spent it on, Graham, Outlaw, and Petro. This year, we’ve signed a guy that probably would have been jobless still in Sheldon Williams.
Shameer1016 - December 15, 2011
Its soon to happen.
If we don’t get those 2 ok big slide back but WE STILL HAVE DERON WILLIAMS.
Freezy82 - December 15, 2011
D'Alessandro is on point as usual.
Agree with everything he said in that piece, the only sad part now, is the Nets are committed to this, and sadly, it’s going to be our undoing.
HabPSU - December 15, 2011

Yeah, I could see how the Kings make sense.
They really don't have any offensive fire-power at the two. Would be a good pick-up.Dopeness - December 15, 2011
Haha and we talk about the Knicks needing two basketballs.
Jimmer, Thornton, Tyreke, Crawford. Hilarious.
Maxyboy - December 15, 2011

Shameer1016 - December 15, 2011
Adande just said
the lakers want to stay put and see what they can do with what they got
netsyankees4life - December 15, 2011
I feel Howard is ours if he is delt before the new york or if he hits free agency. Lakers could give trouble if its a ddeadline deal.
By then Bynum will prolly be hurt though
vijay311 - December 15, 2011
and Bynum's knee
isnt healthy….

i agree and he doesnt want to be the second tier to dwight
netsyankees4life - December 15, 2011
So he's going to cripple the franchise?
I don’t know how the Lakers can regain themselves after the Kobe Era.
Shameer1016 - December 15, 2011
He cares more about his legacy
He wants to win without the best big in the league. Remember how many finals MVP’s the black mamba got with the original Superman? He doesn’t wanna have to deal with that argument again

this article seems like such a stretch, but given how big a circus this has become
I wouldnt be surprised.
vijay311 - December 15, 2011
Championship or a first round exit?
We should not do anything that will hurt our chances of getting Dwight. Dwight is a player who can be your best player, on a Championship team. Except for CP3 (who is almost as good as DWILL) Dwight is the only player who has been available who is worth breaking the bank for to get. There are half a dozen players in the NBA who are “game changers” and Dwight is one of them.
PaulErstein - December 15, 2011
Big year for Brook..
If Dwight is still in Orlando to start the season I think a lot of people that may not be too familiar with Lopez since they never televise our games nationally, will be curious to see this guy that is key piece of The Nets D12 offer, so there will be quite a bit of national attention on him. If he steps his game up amidst that pressure then people will start to think that Orlando is getting a pretty good deal. If he struggles then people will laugh at how pathetic our offer is. Don’t underestimate the power of public perception. The Magic don’t want to be a laughingstock once again so that could be a factor in their willingness to trade with us.
NuttinBut - December 15, 2011
things that would greatly help the nets
1. Brook breakout
2. Bynum injury (I feel bad about saying this, but it is what it is)
vijay311 - December 15, 2011
I'd be thrilled with either
Don’t feel too bad. He’s not exactly what you’d consider a “good character guy.”
NuttinBut - December 15, 2011

njnets05 - December 15, 2011
Nets just need to work on getting Lopez more press
make him a bigger personality, stick some billboards of him in NYC
ubd - December 15, 2011
Sign
Ak, Hump, + Landry. You’ll have a starting lineup pf Lopez, Hump, AK, Deron + Morrow. The bench will have Brooks, Farmer, James, Landry + Sheldon. Also Outlaw, Jordan Will, Gaines + Petro {in a suit}. It’s at least a 500 team with a good shot at the playoffs and 2 draft picks upcoming. If we can get Howard, great, whether it’s at the trade deadline or free agency. But, it has to be on our terms..no 5 first rounders etc, that makes us the Knicks. Assure Dwight + Fagan that he’ll always be welcome with open arms, and any money Fegan + him lose by signing as a free agent will be made up on the back side, we’ll keep resigning him till he’s 40. No need to sacrifice the team to obtain him, he needs to shout his trade demand to the Nets and mean it, and Orlado will have no choice but to send him here. They’ll be happy to get back Lopez.
gizzymhv - December 15, 2011
Don't want Landry. Don't see how he fits on this team as currently constructed.
Clayton Balch - December 15, 2011
currently constructed?
that made me laugh

AK47 a waste of money get Shawne Williams instead
Give Hump a monster 1 year deal with team option for the second Same goes for Shawne.

However, Fegan HAS to try to strongarm the magic otherwise Dwight stands to lose a lotta money.
vijay311 - December 15, 2011
What can they do to frighten Orlando into trading him now?
He can’t sit out the season but he could JKidd them with migraines. Would it be wise to play that card with Orlando?
NuttinBut - December 15, 2011
Fegan is a powerful agent. He can make Orlando signing future player absolute hell if he wants to.
vijay311 - December 15, 2011
DING DING DING!!!!!!!!! vijay got it
Those last 2 posts by vijay are what i’ve been saying all along. He WILL NOT let Dwight lose that much money, and you can put your house on it that he will steer ALL future players he represents away from Orlando.

Nets Predictions. Trying to find the good in this.
C | B Lopez – 20 PPG 9.2 RPG 1 Blocks 80% FT at Center
- Meet the 2011 Allstar Center for the East (If Howard is a Laker of Course). D Will will be determinded to get him stats to raise his value for possible March Howard trade. Plus he is in a contract year. Motivation abound.
PF | Hump – 12 PPG / 12 RPG / 1 Block
-Who has more to prove that last year wasnt a fluke. Getting Kim was a fluke. Getting 10 Boards was Much Much easier.
SF | AK47 – 12 PPG / 6 RPG / 1.5 Blocks / 3 APG
-Has the Most experience playing with D Will. Good Defensive SF with the size to guard Melo. Lopez/Hump/AK Makes a decent matchup vs Knicks. Good player all around with underated passing skills and can hit a 3. Can play PF and play it well.
SG | Morrow – 15 PPG / 44% 3PTS
- What has 2 Thumbs and is automatic from downtown, THIS GUY<=.2nd most accurate 3 pt shooter in NBA History. FACT. D Will is going to get alot of corner 3 assits from Morrow
PG | D Will 21 PPG / 12 APG / 46% FG / 84% FT
- Out to prove he is the BEST PG. Hasnt been healthy in 2 years. In game shape and just dropped 50 in a game last week. He knows he has to Play on KOBE level. Lucky for us he has the talent to do so. One of the FEW differnce makers in the NBA and unlike most of the other franchise players, he makes everyone on the court play better.
6th man – M Brooks 16 PPG / 44% FG / 1.5 Steals
- I have been singing his praise since predraft. He is the real deal. Best scorer in college basketball not named Jimmer. People know he can score, 24.6 PPG but did you know that he also pulled 7 RPG, 1.5 Stl 1.2 Blocks…….. in the Big East. He is has the talent to be a great defender especially with Avery’s defensive mind. Made himself into a good player, you have to respect that. Dont be surprised to se him play alot of minutes at SF since he has a 7’ 1" Wingspan. We are going to get alot of fastbreaks with this guy playing the passing lanes. Remeber how good our fastbreak was when we had Kidd and Kittles. DWill and Brooks is just as good……..He is only one year younger then Brook. He is ready to contribute now. He will be neck and neck with Kemba for ROY.
IF we dont get Howard then plan B is K Mart and Chandler when they get back from China. Seems like Denver is moving on from Chandler. We can save some cash for Howard trade knowing that we will have more money then Denver to bid on him. He would be a nice platoon with AK. K Mart back in NJ for its last year is only fitting, Brooklyn was the reason we lost him in the 1st place. It would be good karma to open Brooklyn with him on the squad.
Lopez | Petro | Sheldon
Hump | K Mart | AK47 | D James
W Chandler | AK47 | D James | M Broooks
Morrow | M Brooks | Farmar
D Will | J Farmar | Gaines
This isnt that bad of a squad. Then we get Howard in FA if its ment to be.
PS SORRY GUYS JWILL aint making the team.
DWILL-of-the-GODZ - December 15, 2011
16ppg for M Brooks
is HIGH for me, i would be happy with 8pts a game
danxcr - December 15, 2011
8 to 11 would be a lot more realistic.
I also doubt starters and sixth man would average a combined 96ppg.
infam0us - December 15, 2011
possible
especially if they run a system where he gets open shots
danxcr - December 15, 2011
I think Brooks can get that many depending on playing time.
It doesn’t mean he’ll get it efficiently though. He will be a volume scorer.
Maxyboy - December 15, 2011
well i want to see him play vs NBA players
and how he will get his shots up if he is off from outside
danxcr - December 15, 2011
Yeah. He seems like he'll be a good one.
That would be a an exciting team to watch.
Maxyboy - December 15, 2011
double digits would be good
the guy is a athletic beast, and that’s an advantage right there.
Shameer1016 - December 15, 2011
that's like a perfect season lmao
usually that does not happen for us Nets fans
Claud - December 15, 2011
Hell! 9 rebounds for Lopez? Are we talking about Brook or Robin?
CyberRambro - December 15, 2011
George
Shameer1016 - December 15, 2011
Mario
danxcr - December 15, 2011
jennifer
Claud - December 15, 2011
After what we saw last year, Jennifer might outrebound Brook!
CyberRambro - December 15, 2011
She did hook up with some young guy, but who wouldn't get with that? lol
Shameer1016 - December 15, 2011
91 ppg from 6 players?
Idk bout haha
Nick Tortoise - December 15, 2011
Marshon is going to get at least 12. He is a scoring machine.
If you are sleeping on this guy then you need to wake up. Guy can Ball
DWILL-of-the-GODZ - December 15, 2011
hes good
but wait till he plays an nba game to say the guy can ball
ericjh2 - December 15, 2011
That team, as a whole, is pretty nice to move forward with, but we can"t wait til March to get those guys from China.
We need some bodies. Check out my post at the bottom..whadaya think?
bkfire - December 15, 2011
Expect talks about the trade being close tomorrow again
rymitchell2 - December 15, 2011
i expect trade to happen Friday
hahaha
danxcr - December 15, 2011
we cant make a trade if we sign people. It must happen tomorrow early or not til the AS break.
vijay311 - December 15, 2011
goofnight everyone lets hope we get dwight
alboboy - December 15, 2011
same NIGHT
FRiday i expect the trade ^^
danxcr - December 15, 2011
I had a bad feeling about this originally but BK has handled this right. He gave them a deadline and I think that not only will he stick with it, I think Otis will cave in and it gets done around the same time we throw Outlaw his going away party!
CyberRambro - December 15, 2011
For the billionth time....It was NOT otis. It was the OWNERS who said "Hell No" to the trade.
BrockRocks - December 15, 2011
And Otis is probably the only person that can talk some sense into them. If this goes on past Friday and into the season, this will become a MAJOR distraction. Even more than it already has. They remember what happened with Shaq. I doubt they’ll let it happen again. All because you don’t want to see him playing in another uniform during the All-Star game? That’s pretty damn shallow. Move him now or deal with the chaos later and STILL may not get as good of a deal as this. It’s a high stakes game of chicken. We’ll see who blinks first.
CyberRambro - December 15, 2011
Let's face it. You think the owners give a damn?
All they care about is taking the money from the season ticket holders of their franchise’s fans. And making a profit off the AllStar game with Howard there.
Once all that is done with, and they have squeezed as much money from Howard as possible, only then will they let him go.
They are holding him hostage for purely financial reasons and it P-SSES ME OFF!!
BrockRocks - December 15, 2011
Ok honestly
I can’t imagine agents fly all the time to go harass teams to trade players… DWIGHT WANTS OUT. AND HE WANTS US. I’m sure the agent is doing everything he possibly can do get the Magic to get the idea that Dwight needs to be traded ASAP.
Also, Billy has to know this is going to be real bad if we go sign players and then the Magic are like yeah sure let’s trade. OR vice versa if we don’t sign anyone and then the Magic are like oh we’re not trading him until All-Star weekend… then we’re screwed.
I JUST REALLY HOPE THIS GETS DONE SOON. I mean there’s a good shot of it – look at the players who seriously demanded a trade in the past and got it, upon request:
–Chris Paul
–Jason Kidd
–Carmelo Anthony (and this only took long because the Knicks/Nugs were being idiots)
This should get done before the season… that’s 10 more days. While it would be nice to have him before Preseason, before season starts is the most important thing. At some point, Magic should get sick of this whole thing and move on.
corky_romano4life - December 15, 2011
I hope there's a timely resolution to this saga
I’ve been glued to this site following this story more than I was after 9/11. Hopefully this has a happier ending haha
NuttinBut - December 15, 2011
"Dwight Howard traded to NJ"
That’s what I want to hear when i wake up in the morning.
Night Folks
B-GON - December 15, 2011
I don't, it will throw me off before my exam.
I want to hear that at like 10 AM, I should be done by then.
infam0us - December 15, 2011
I'm sorry but...
I want to hear “Dwight Howard traded to Nets in blockbuster that throws off Nets fans before their exams!” Im impatient
NuttinBut - December 15, 2011
LMAO
True story. I had gotten the Nets completely out of my head and I was taking my Spanish exam. It was all going pretty well until one of the excerpts I had to read was written by a person named Antonio Perez.
Maxyboy - December 15, 2011
LOL
I remember the moment I went on Netsdaily in class and saw Deron Williams got traded to the Nets.
Oh man my professors reaction was priceless when I screamed YES!
B-GON - December 15, 2011
Was on the train to East 86th when Deron got here
Got out of the station, turned on my cell, went to ESPN.com, and saw we got him. I refreshed my phone just to make sure it’s true.
lupojohn3 - December 15, 2011
I'm glad I was home when I saw it..
Cause I screamed “YESSS” like a mad man for a good 20 minutes, jumping and fist pumping and what not.
The night before that, they were about to trade my favorite player at the time (Devin Harris) for some scrubs and I was NOT HAPPY.
Bboy500 - December 15, 2011

JJ_22 - December 15, 2011
new thread please.this one is depressing. confusing. annoying. teasing. faithful.
vincent manzull - December 15, 2011
lol
ok… who wants Lopez, would Memphis move Rudy for Lopez?
We can send Lopez to Memphis then Memphis can send Rudy to Orlando. with picks and others
danxcr - December 15, 2011
I don't think they would.
They already have Z-Bo and little Gasol.
I think Golden State would like him. They;ve been looking for a Center.
Maxyboy - December 15, 2011
would orlando
rather have Monta Ellis?
Obviously Otis doesnt want Lopez, so get a team that does, and ask them to send it to Orlando.
I know Curry is off limits, but maybe Ellis and who?
danxcr - December 15, 2011
I don't know that Otis doesn't want him.
It was Orlando’s ownership that rejected the trade. I don’t know who else GSW could move.
Maxyboy - December 15, 2011
Hmmm
what other teams that have “STAR” power, not a 7 footer who basically averages 20ppg and 8rpg in his young carrer, and never MISSED A GAME.
GUESS THAT ISNT GOOD ENOUGH
danxcr - December 15, 2011
The T-Wolves?
They have a lot of young talent and they could have a Love/Lopez front court.
Maxyboy - December 15, 2011
no they just singed zbo and gasol
Claud - December 15, 2011
We only trade Lopez for
1. Lebron
2. Dwight
3. Jason Collins
Shameer1016 - December 15, 2011
Set Shot Willy
Benl1 - December 15, 2011
What is happening? Billy Where Are You?????
there is no way all this has happened and we walk away w nothing. Billy King has 2 have something planned. Magic ownership is making this a problem. Dan Fegan seems to be helping Billy in get D12 to the Nets.
If we dont get D12 what are we trading for? What superstar is on the market for us 2 get?
brooklynbridges - December 15, 2011
obviously BK has been doing his job
but working behind the public and keeping this quiet.
danxcr - December 15, 2011
We're in too deep now
There’s no turning back. Billy will aggressively pursue Dwight until he’s either in a Nets jersey or he signs his name on the dotted line with another team. I am 100% behind him on this one too.
NuttinBut - December 15, 2011
Theoretically, if Dwight doesn't end up on the Nets (I still think he will), would you guys be cool with throwing a big deal at Gordon and seeing if NOH has enough money to match?
Maxyboy - December 15, 2011
nope
i like Gordon and i like derozan as future 2s
danxcr - December 15, 2011
I always forget about Derozan.
He is going to be really good.
Maxyboy - December 15, 2011
but we could get "STERN'D"
danxcr - December 15, 2011
alright good nite my friends,
this time for real. Friday is my cut off day
danxcr - December 15, 2011
Good night
I think if nothing goes down tomorrow we sign Hump and/or AK47 early on Friday
infam0us - December 15, 2011
I think out of all the local/NY media
Mike Mazzeo is one of very few that has done a stellar job thus far covering the Nets & NBA. Appears to be he actually respects the Nets organizations and is aware of how close we are to instilling fear into our opponents and making serious noise.
Shout out to Mike Mazzeo
D Will to Succeed - December 15, 2011
Yep. He's a good guy and will admit mistakes and respond to people on Twitter.
I like Andy Vasquez too.
Maxyboy - December 15, 2011
our offer compared to what New Orleans got
is a joke and a half.
Glad Dwight refuses to be traded to anywhere except NJ/LAL/DAL
lemmetakeutodamovies - December 15, 2011
Thats because Stern stepped in
Hornets were initially going to get Martin, Scola and Odom. That trade would of made our deal look better.
infam0us - December 15, 2011
Hornets got a steal
paul’s good, but he has weak legs now
JJ_22 - December 15, 2011
Also, I don't think Eric Gordon's pleased.
He tweeted, “Wow.” After the trade was announced. Similar to what Chris Paul tweeted when the trade to the Lakers was vetoed by David Stern.
JJ_22 - December 15, 2011
If this variant of Orlando not to be pleasant. Billy will be found him by another.
RussianNets - December 15, 2011

D Will to Succeed - December 15, 2011
How many attempts you think it took for him to spell that properly on his first library card?
infam0us - December 15, 2011
yea i'm waiting for that breaking tweet
though I guess we did get a lot of news already today
sheepareevil - December 15, 2011
Get a grip D'Alessandro
Howard is actually not behaving badly, if anything I’d put more blame on the media’s relentless appetite for a story in creating a perception for us. Why be bitter Dave? You are part of the machine…
NiceBull - December 15, 2011
Just read that one, its true but def slightly bitter.
D Will to Succeed - December 15, 2011
there is some truth in there, but
he fails to mention the big role reporters have in spreading rumors and stories about things that may or may not be true. Reporters are constantly trolling these franchises, stirring up things and stoking fires.
Like your Wooden quote btw.
NiceBull - December 15, 2011
New Poster but HUGE Nets fan
Hey guys, I have been reading NetsDaily for a little while now and I want to applaud how dedicated all of you guys are. It has been hard being the only Nets fan in my family since everyone supports the Knicks. I am always defending the Nets and remember the glory days with Kidd, K-Mart, Kittles, RJ, Van Horn. I believe we have a very solid team and I have faith that we will get Dwight Howard in the end. But if we don’t get him it’s ok, we have a lot of potential in our young players and remember TEAMS win championships, not individual stars. I am sad that Jersey is losing the Nets but they will always be Jersey’s team in my eye
xvinmastax - December 15, 2011
Marshon
Also, call me crazy, but mark this post. Marshon Brooks will be the BEST player the Nets have had on their team ever. I am so excited to see this kid play. His skill set, his frame, his athleticism, and killer instinct to score will help him shine in this league for years to come. Don’t look now, but I think we already have our superstar in the making.
xvinmastax - December 15, 2011
you really jumped out the window w this post lmaoo
William_H_HOLLA - December 15, 2011
LOL
LOL maybe so, but I’ve seen the kid play in college and if he keeps playing that way, he will be HUGE for us. Like i said it’s a crazy prediction but something I stand by. Let’s hope for the best
xvinmastax - December 15, 2011
another positive nets fan welcome
we are few and far between these days the chicken littles have taken over
mightymosdefinition - December 15, 2011
I'm with you....
… not exactly on every words, because it’s hard to Brooks be the best Net ever but I have high hopes for him, I’ expecting him to be a scoring machine, and I like his defensive potential, but let’s wait how he adpats.
My fear is that Brooks starts hot, and at the deadline the Magic demand to include him in the trade.

Why we fans always talk about
player loyalty. No NBA team is loyal to any of their players unless you a star like Kobe, LBJ or Wade. Look at Brook. Does he have a say in where he would end up. Fans don’t care as long as we get a better like DH12. So we should not complain about players leaving for a better place or for more money.
NDTony - December 15, 2011
exactly
alboboy - December 15, 2011

fans would never pay the same loyalty to players that they demand from them. i have no problem with these guys wanting to choose where they play.

Translate who can. I am afraid to lose meaning
RussianNets - December 15, 2011
From google translate
“Guys, I see that half of you are very weak mentally. When the first bad news you raise a panic, should be strong and believe that everything we get and Howard will play in the Nets. All of today’s news does not have what it super bad, it’s just working the moment, Billy knows what he should do and he does it. So let’s just do not panic wait a deadline on December 31.”
Trav235 - December 15, 2011

From someone who just posted everything in Russian....
…you are telling me that you don’t understand ME? lol.
BrockRocks - December 15, 2011
Billy should try his buddy in Utah.
Send Morrow and Farmar, one pick for Milsap and Watson or Tinsley.
One year left on Milsap’s contract (after this one) for the money we would pay Hump or AK. Just get AK for the SF spot (with James).
And for SG, bring in Stevenson for some D and platoon with Brooks.
Still have assets and money.
bkfire - December 15, 2011
Line up
DWill/Gaines/Tinsley
Brooks/Stevenson
AK/James/SWill
Milsap/AK/SWill
Lopez/SheWill/Petro
JWill and a D Leaguer to round out the roster.
bkfire - December 15, 2011
so u want 4/5 of utahs old starting lineup?
mightymosdefinition - December 15, 2011
Worked that way, but looking at what might still be possible. Fills a need for both teams
and the GMs have a good relationship. Milsap is underrated, and AK just needs to stay on the court.
bkfire - December 15, 2011
Some more words from the wise
Since my first post here got such good reception (26 recs), I thought I’d try to add some more sense to everything. Not going to lie, I was a bit out of the loop today, I had 2 finals today (finally done!) an dust got caught up on everything.
It’s all posturing guys, we have to stop freaking out over the small things. Until Dwight gets traded elsewhere (and even then we still have a shot) we need to keep calm and let things unfold on there own. I have the ultimate confidence in Billy.
Remember when we had Kidd and we still had so much trouble finding a PF? The fact that the best big man in the game openly wants to come here, we gotta do everything, even if it means not fielding the best team this year. We had trouble getting players like SAR to commit here (and obv for other reasons as you guys remember) and now we can get the best big. I am all in. Whatever needs to be done, you do it. If we gotta trade every possible draft pick, we do it.
We’ve been through so much, we should learn to not freak over everything. Yes Woj is by far the best in the business but everything is just rumored. I hope everyone has a good night, and hopefully everything works out for us. Hey, we are nets fans, don’t we deserve something good?
Like Jay says, The Nets could go 0 for 82 and I’d look at you like this shit gravy. Enjoy and let this exciting time for Nets bball soak in, I can’t remember the last time there was such an energy in the fan base.

lupojohn3 - December 15, 2011

lupojohn3 - December 15, 2011
We get the 6th seed with that team, assuming everyone plays/stays healthy as expected.
And we can still get Dwight!!
bkfire - December 15, 2011
as currently constructed with humphries we're a 7 or 8th seed
i think they bring in richard jefferson also
mightymosdefinition - December 15, 2011
Milsap is the better player, has a repoire with DWill, and allows us to spend money on AK
to play SF. Morrow and Farmar almost cancel out what Milsap is making, so not much additional money is being laid out.
bkfire - December 15, 2011
hey guys, just had a thought
sorry if its already been discussed, just wanted to share.
although i wanted this trade to happen weeks ago, let alone today, i still believe it will happen at the trade deadline. here is my reasoning, otis smith knows the nets will still be willing to make the trade at the deadline. this is what happened last year with melo. we were there all year, backed out, came back in a a month later, eventually trading for dwill. otis smith isn’t a dumbass, he knows the nets are going to be there at the deadline to trade for dwight, in case things aren’t working out.
unless dwight really tells orlando right now that he wants to be traded right NOW, he isn’t going to be until the trade deadline. even then, i think it will end up being at the deadline.
viridus - December 15, 2011
I agree, if Dwight continues this stance of pussyfooting
if he really does get fed up and demand a trade as some sketchy Orlando beat writers have suggested, then it could go down very soon, but I kinda doubt that happens. who knows anything anymore though.
sheepareevil - December 15, 2011
No. To a deadline much will exchange. We won't have a possibility to amnesty Outlaw, We should быдем sign someone. Thereby we will hammer in a pay-sheet and not смоем to take away the contract of the Turk
RussianNets - December 15, 2011
vote prokhorov
eagles4321 - December 15, 2011
Bro we're gonna amnesty Outlaw

lupojohn3 - December 15, 2011
His agent is doing EVERYTHING he can to get him out of there IMMEDIATELY
The source of this is Pingalore(last name). His whole article may not be fact, but that part is. Even other posters here who don’t like him believe that.
lupojohn3 - December 15, 2011
Signing people to big one-year contracts at least puts us in contention next year if DH stays in Disney
Trav235 - December 15, 2011
My take is that Otis told everyone he wasn't trading Howard...
to get the onus off of himself. He knew that Howard was saying one thing in private and another thing publicly. If Howard wants to leave he needs to say it out loud so that the Orlando fans have someone to blame other than Otis. He’s just trying to save his own Mosio.
Asawisemansaid - December 15, 2011
That Dave D was a whole lot of hot air
I honestly believe Howard would’ve stayed in Orlando if they properly built a roster. They didn’t…not by a long shot. What’s with the “swing for the fences” mentality? Ask the Miami Heat…and the Knicks…and the Celtics before them. This is nothing all that new. Par for the course and actually quite understandable.
And Brook SHOULD be moved, anyway? Um, okay buddy.
Anthony Perez - December 15, 2011
yeah he made a number of silly points
Such as, get Tyson Chandler for defense and then move your scoring big man Lopez for a forward.
Why not swing for the fences?! Why hold back when the best big man on planet Earth says he wants to play for the Nets.
Finally, if not King, it’s Deron’s fault that the Nets are going all out for Dwight. After all, he did force Sloan into retirement yada yada. Yeah, sure guy, they’re related, and that’s assuming they’re true. Well, no Deron, no Dwight hope, so OK.
stenpoint - December 15, 2011
You know guys, I have a feeling in the next day or two, the Orlando FO might do something stupid
It’s obvious they aren’t very smart, and they could slip at any time. A long shot, yes, but the way this is going, anything is certainly possible.
lupojohn3 - December 15, 2011
So is this our chance to sign Howard and keep Lopez to put them together ?
jarkid - December 15, 2011
There's no chance of that happening
Unless Orlando really screws up by letting him walk for nothing but I doubt it
NuttinBut - December 15, 2011

NuttinBut - December 15, 2011

The last bit won’t be available once we start other signings. At the deadline, they’ll have to pay for those traded expiring contracts.
Dwight’s starting to get real cranky and some Orlando columnists are starting to realize, if belatedly, that Bynum’s knees may not be so healthy.
It’s not yet Friday so I’m holding out hope until the weekend’s here.

Aren't The ATL Hawks looking to cut payroll?
If they really want to get rid of Joe Johnson, could we do a very similar deal with them instead of Portland and have Johnson sent to Orlando with Brook? Brook Lopez and Joe Johnson is a pretty nice return for them. They get a former All star in Johnson and All star caliber center in Brook. I know JJ has a huge contract but we are talking about Orlando here. If they wouldnt take him no one would.
